Macular Degeneration

This is a disease that once diagnosed is too late to turn around.  I know, your mom said eat your carrots and Vitamin A and all the anti-oxidants are a good way to strive to prevent this diagnosis in later years.  So you tell me you eat your broccoli, kale, winter squash and all the bright colored fruits and vegetables that are known to be high in anti-oxidants.  I am proud of you, good job.  But in some cases the contents of these foods are not assimilated or absorbed.

If you tell me of the long lists of vitamin rich foods and all the vitamins and minerals you are taking and still have nutritional imbalances, I wonder if they are really breaking down to the components that can be used by the body.  Cheap vitamins may give you cheap results.  Don't get me wrong.  I like bargains too.  But we all know there are times when we get what we pay for.

A lab in Baltimore measures the vitamins, mineral, and nutrient levels in the blood and lets you know if what you are taking is really working or being absorbed.  The man who owned this lab once worked at NASA and helped develop markers that could give the astronauts information so that they could survive under extreme stress in space travel.  Now the same information is available to you.  Eyes are an important part of our quality of life in later years.  Eat organic carrots, your mom was right.
